In some of the communities that we serve, more than 150 children out of every 1,000 under age 5 will die from preventable or treatable causes this year. There may be cures for their conditions, but they don’t have access to the necessary medication, treatment, or immunizations. Some of them die because their parents lack basic knowledge of nutrition, hygiene, and health care.

Asante works with families and communities to ensure that they have access to the resources and knowledge they need to stay healthy. One of the ways we do this is through our child sponsorship program which provides medical care for each sponsored child. Because children die of simple diseases such as malaria every day, this basic healthcare can save lives at a very small cost. Asante also provides education to the families about hygiene and basic health practices.
